This case demonstrates how implants have changed dentistry. Not very long ago the only way this could have been permanently restored would have been with a fixed bridge. We would have had to cut down the two perfectly good teeth on either side of the missing tooth. The implant was restored with a porcelain crown.

Before: Patient was unhappy with six upper front teeth. The edges are uneven, the gumline is uneven on the two central incisors, and the color/shade is not uniform. The two lateral incisor teeth have been previously restored and are poorly shaped.
After: Smile restored with 6 Upper Anterior Crowns that are properly shaped, gumline is uniform, and color/shade is the same for all 6 incisor teeth. This case also required minor periodontal (gum) surgery. The periodontist did an excellent job.

This patient needed a new upper denture and had to have many of the lower teeth extracted due to old ill-fitting bridges. Also as you can tell in the upper right photo the patient's bite was too overlapped. An implant retained upper denture was fabricated and the lower was restored with a combination of implant and natural tooth retained fixed bridges, along with porcelain crowns. Notice the obvious improvement in the bite in the lower right picture.

This patient was a heavy grinder and very unhappy with the appearance of his teeth. The patient wanted to maintain the space between his two front teeth. As you can see this was done and it gave the case a very natural look. The patient wished he had done it years before.
